A Manual for the Immaterial Worker

A Manual for the Immaterial Worker

Taking the form of a manual for an analogue time clock, this book reflects on the precarious place of the immaterial worker, inextricably tied to the culture they make, bound to the constant production of content.

A Manual for the Immaterial Worker is the sixteenth of Printed Matter’s Artists & Activists Pamphlet Series, a publishing program engaged with social activism that operated from 2008 to 2012.

Inspired by the legacy of the political pamphlet, these modest format publications offered artists and collectives a space to address some of the social and political concerns of our time and critically examine the concept of art and activism.

Twenty pamphlets were published. They were distributed for free at the Printed Matter storefront and included in mail-order packages.
